Joost van Oorschot, founder and CEO of Maana Electric, receives the prize money of €35 000 from Marc Serres, CEO of Luxembourg Space Agency
The winner of the 2023 Luxembourg Space TT Challenge “Exploring Space for your Place” was formally announced at the LSA Breakfast event on 24 November 2023. In front of a gathering of some 60 professionals from the space industry community in Luxembourg, Jean-Paul Henry, CEO of Créaction International, the official ESA Technology Broker for Luxembourg, declared the company Maana Electric to be the winner of the space technology transfer challenge for their submission on “decarbonisation linked to an alternative energy”.
The competition, which was launched in August and ran until 25 September, was open to all companies, independent of their sector, operating on the territory of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, who were interested in taking a space technology and testing its potential transfer and adaptation to a terrestrial application. The initiative was funded by the ESA Commercialization Gateway and supported by the Luxembourg Space Agency.
Maana Electric was founded in 2018 and works on the development of clean energy infrastructure projects which have applications on Earth and in Space.
